Ending Casualised contracts at Glasgow Caledonian

B1rTsEyIIAA1CWF The UCU branch at Glasgow Caledonian held a day of action and a drop-in advice clinic on November 5th campaigning for an end to casualised contracts at Glasgow Caledonian University.

This was well supported by staff and students as shown by our flickr feed – which only covers some of the events of the day https://www.flickr.com/photos/caledonianunion/

Although organised by the local UCU branch, as part of a UK wide day of action by the University and College Union, the aims of the campaign are shared fully by the other campus unions, some of whom also got their photos taken in solidarity with the campaign.  The joint unions at GCU are currently in negotiation with management to regularise the situation of the minority of staff still on those contracts, and to ensure secure contracts for all.

In a welcome move, Caledonian Connected advertised the stall and the drop in clinic – which was also well attended.
