The Twenty Seventh January is Holocaust Memorial Day, and the UCU held a stall to commemorate this in the Saltire where anti-fascist and anti-racist materials were given out and the ‘Gathering the Voices‘ project – supported by some of our own students at GCU was publicised.

In 2013 UCU won an award for their commemoration film which can be watched here, and this was made available on the stall as was this year’s film – which had the theme of Journeys to Safety: Memories of the Kindertransport (viewable here). In addition, the Gathering the Voices project film was also viewable here.

UCU had made available testimonials of UCU Holocaust survivors and also a very moving testimony of the genocide in Rwanda, and also a Holocaust Memorial Wall Chart (as seen in the photo above).

Finally an Open Letter in the name of UCU and also pledging the support of other campus unions was given out at the table.
